I heard someone who went to NeoRomance A la Mode recently, and she said that Haruka 3 anime (at least the first one) seems to base on Masaomi kun's route & there's lots of Masaomi kun solo. I am really hoping that won't be true.... I don't dislike Masaomi kun but he's not my favorite either.....

Yeah, I wouldn't be terribly excited if it followed Masaomi's route, but he is considered a 'main' character. Besides that, the story differs more than haruka 1 did based on who you choose to go for. The anime probably couldn't cover everyone's path. I hope that, even if they do follow Masaomi's route for the most part, they'll leave the romance in a neutrual state.

Equal rights for hachiyou I say.

I don't think it's fair to make it into anyone's route. I would actually like the normal ending or the "happy ending".

Even if it was with Masaomi? A nice happy ending instead of 8(ish) omake endings like for the Haruka 1 anime(although I did enjoy those) would be good. Masaomi isn't my favorite though, I'd rather have Tomomori or someone.

Well, at least they're making an anime. =)

With this OVA being my first exposure to HaruToki 3, let's just say that right now I'm just confused as hell and the ending made me go nuts!

Like, does Nozomi defeat Masaomi or what? What the heck was Benkei doing on the Heike side? Who is that guy with the wavy long hair (the one who set the remaining Hachiyou on fire when they were fleeing the battle), and how did he get so much power (assuming that he used some powers to set the Hachiyou on fire)? How come Saku still has powers when they said Kokuryuu has disappeared?

And can somebody PLEASE tell me what happens after that Nozomi VS Masaomi fight, because I feel like I've just been left in the middle of nowhere with this OVA ending!

okay...I can understand why you are lost...because the OVA was set for people who had actually played the game ^^;;

If you have played the game and gone through every single person's route then you will understand the anime.

But if you do not mind spoiler, below is the answer:

1. The battle between the two didnt actually have a result, the battle was interrupted. Masaomi left with the rest of Heike because they lost the battle. After that, they lost battle after battle to Genji. So after the complete defeat of Heike to Genji, Kurou and Benkei pleaded for Masaomi's life, and thus he was abandoned with the rest of the Heike family to some southern country. Nozomi chooses to go with him, and help to look after the remaining decendents of Heike.

2. The guy with the wavey long hair is called Taira no Kuremori. He is one of the sons of the Heike Clan. He was raised from the dead to become a onryou, that is why he has all those powers.

3. Okay, there was a bit of a mix in the OVA, originally when you go for Masaomi's route as the anime was set in, Benkei does not go and join Heike. But anyway, if you played Benkei's route, it will show that he actually betrayed Genji and kidnapped Nozomi as a gift of war to surrender at Heike's side. In the beginning, Nozomi was very upset at Benkei's betrayal, but towards the end, she discovers that Benkei wanted to go undercover in Heike so he could get close enough to the leader of Heike Clan to assassinate him. But in order to let Heike believe that he really was willing to betray Genji and join them, he had to sacrifice everyone else. (e.g kurou and the rest)
But he did not want you to die because he loves you, and in order to save your life, he pretended to take you as hostage in order to keep you alive. But anyway, at the end Benkei assassinates the leader of the Heike clan to end the war, but he sacrificed his own life too.

It was only before he dies you found out the truth of his betrayal.

4. Saku only has power because she responds to Nozomi's power. And the secret is, kokuryu didnt really disappear, but was kept prisoner be the leader of Heike Clan.

phew...hope that explains it...

oh, in case you are interested, I have written up translations of Hinoe and Tomomori's route, and reading through them might help you understand the OVA better? XD;

I've still got a couple of questions, so if you don't mind me asking...

1. How did Masaomi become Kaeri Naifu in the first place? From what I saw of the OVA, it seemed like he got pulled into the Heian-Kyou world along with Nozomi, so how did Nozomi end up joining the Genji and Masaomi the Heike? And what is Kaeri Naifu's relationship with the rest of the Heike? If Kaeri Naifu (Masaomi) was aligned with Heike, how did he end up joining the rest of the Hachiyou and not know that Nozomi was the Genji no Miko?
2. About the battle, did the Genji win this time because Nozomi told them what would happen? Or did they win because Nozomi challenged Masaomi one on one?
3. Does Saku reunite with Kokuryuu? (I'm glad to hear he didn't die! :) I felt so sorry for Saku when I saw the flashbacks in the OVA!)
4. Thanks for clearing things up about Benkei! I was really confused because I thought Benkei was loyal to Yoshitsune. But I'm really sad to hear that he died at the end... :( (This Benkei reminds me of Yunoki for some strange reason...)
5. Was Ridvan burned in the past or something? Because he always has his face covered, and the one pic I saw of him without his mask, he had some scars on part of his face and neck...
6. From what I've heard, Yoshitsune dies (by suicide?) according to history. Does he live in the game ending?

Tomomori looks really cool (but why does he talk so slow?) - I was just reading the Tomomori translation and I really must thank you for translating it!!! :D I'm so gonna read the Hinoe part too! (Will there be translations for all the other guys?)
