Having been a player of otome games for a few years now, I still find it a struggle to finish (completely) the games I start. I guess this could be said of other non-otome games I play too. So far, I've only finished a grand total of 3. Yo-jin-bo, Starry Sky ~in Summer~, and Da Capo Girl's Symphony, all relatively short games in comparison to the major Koei NR titles. The length probably has to do with it... XD

Seeing how the Koei NR games are pretty popular (Harukanaru, La Corda, Neo/Angelique), and that they're all LONG GAMES, not to mention the Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side series with as many as 5 endings per character, how do you manage to complete the game? Or do you sample an ending each and leave it at that?
I find it a bit unnerving to start a game but never finish it. ;A;

Hm, interesting. The only ones that I've completed at the top of my head were Yo-Jin-Bo and Butlers (with Night Mode). I'm pretty sure I completed other ones, but I totally forgot the names. :x Normally I complete at least half the routes for any otome game I've played (unless the story and characters are totally boring that I want to chuck it off my laptop), and then move on to another game. But I'm one of those people that like to complete games eventually, so I do come back to games that I didn't complete the first time to finish the rest of the routes (as I've done with Butlers). Tbh, I spend more time on sleeping because college tires me out from long text reading playing non-otome games. ^^;

I'm not much of a lol!completion freak unless the "ending" or the character that I really want to see is right after full completion. So very often I'd prolly ditch the game after I got what I need hahaha. However, my friends and I usually divide up the work amongst ourselves and then we exchange information between us lol 8D. Or if we know how the game is structured (like all the events could be seen after clearing the game) then we'll just clear the game first (and see who could get a full completion save) and watch the events one by one. But of course, if there is a character that I really really really want to know about (or have heard it from other people that he/she is awesome) then it'll be cleared haha.

...and this all happened because there isn't an RPG that's as good as Nier hahaha.

Oh right, and join my 1 meal a day club for the lol 8D.

To me, the first impact is very important since most of the times, once I 'archive' a game it's the end, I'll never pick it up again. So the first playthrough decides if the game will be completed or not. Of course time plays an important role too for example, I had to leave behind Kanuchi and TMGS because they're too long now that I work.

Also, I'm a perfectionist and I try to get 100% once I set my mind to ^^; But not when randomness is involved, I find it a waste of time to reload a game for hours, during that time I could have played something else >_>

I, myself, would like to know how others answer this question. @_@ I've started a lot, and I mean A LOT, of games but only finished a few or less, and that few can be counted by the fingers of one hand. For otome games, I've only finished three games; Lover's Collection, Danzai no Maria and... ehh? Only two? That's it? That's it! >_< I'm finishing up Yo Jin Bo though so I guess it's three now (lol).

there are simple too many games out there, and me playing a wide range of games on different consoles, i can only finish the routes of the bishounens i want. thus i am forever grateful to people who post the paths and endings online (with pics) as it would be faster. collecting CGs work too XD

I don't go for full completion not unless I really like the story/game. I just aim for the character(s) that I find interesting and after that I will go for other games. IOWs, I do what KAPSLOCK do LOL

full completion...hmmm

I agree unless I am dedicated like litewolf I really am not the type to complete 100 % too xD;;;
I may appear to be a "otome game guru", but believe it or not, I never or hardly ever full comp'd otome games xDDDD

So the ones that could cause me to fully complete them, it means THEY ARE GOOOOOOOD GAMES.

Ones I have completed

See? my list is short considering the amount of otome games I have played xD
Just realised, Takuyo games are easy to full complete even though it's visual novel D:
Must be the wonderful touching storylines.

And the game that actually took me the longest time to complete is definitely Kanuchi series. Considering that it requires 2 PS2 games to complete the whole journey, and my first round of playing took 66 hours LOLLLL, so go figure considering there are how rounds of play to go through xDDD

Oh, it seems that the visual novel types are the ones people usually complete... maybe something to do with the gameplay. ;)
I usually go for the onii-chan/old guy types first, then branch out to the megane guys, and maybe the sensei, before I lose steam and saunter off to focus on exams. And then when the holidays have come, I've forgotten all about the previous game and start another. XDDDD I like sample many but rarely complete any. ;A;

I think that's a reeeeeally long list, but considering how seasoned you are in otome games, I guess it's short for you!!
I admire your determination! I shall pursue game completion like you do~ ;D

Hmm. Usually I only finish *everything* if I see some special reason to - like unlocking final endings and such, as in Ever17. Or if I just like all the characters very much. So usually I only finish 1-3 routes and move on ^^; (I also think, "I'll finish the rest some other day!" but never get the time to return.)

Looking at otome games only, the only one I finished with all characters was Princess Nightmare.
For games that I "finished" in the less completed sense are:
Real Rode
Heart no Kuni no Alice
Tokimeki GS 1

And there are many that I have started on, but where I haven't seen a single ending yet <_<;; So many games, so little time.

I usually only do the routes that interest me and then I'm finished with the game unless I get really bored and decide to do more. So my list of totally completed games is really really short.
Sometimes I do routes for friends and then I end up not doing them on my own game cause I'm lazy and don't feel like going through it again.

I finished all the routes in Bakamatsu Renka Shinsengumi and liked it. One of the only games I finished completely. Haha but I don't think my other friends care for it. Have not tried Karyu Kenshiden yet. Recommend it?

When I play any type of game...I try to complete it but once I get my hands on a new game I stop that and start a new one. LOL

However, with otome games...I tend to complete them or almost complete them.
I always go for the guys that least interest me first and save the guy I like the most the last...because I know I would be more satisfied that way. LOL Also, if there is some type of friendship end with a girl I go for the girl first before the boys.

I'm selling stuff so if you're interested please take a look!

If you want to find more random blabbings of otome games you can look at my livejournal if you want~

I've only played UTM and Heart no kuni no Alice. I always had to wait till everyone in the house was asleep and wear headphones for UTM because my family would have freaked out if they'd seen it. When I reached the end of UTM it was a shock for me to see the harem ending simply because I didn't look ahead while completing the last route (a nice present ;) ). As for HnK, I'm 90% complete right now and I intend to reach 100%.
The way that I usually work through the games is to go for the perviest guys last. That way the end leaves me with the highest shock factor. If I can't wait that long, I'll do one pervy guy route midway and then wait till the end for the rest. It's only really hard if my favorite bishie is also the biggest perv in the game. Although it was impossible to follow this standard for UTM.

I usually just play the routes of the people I like or find interesting.

Usually if its visual novel I'll pretend to be the heroine (-.-!) and pretty much end up dead the first time around. Then I'll go back and play it like an otome game with a guy in mind.

Games I have finished... 0 *ahem...*

I have game ADD so usually I drop a game after maybe a few days or a few hours (depending on how good it is) then I start another game. Sometime later I go back and replay the games. Eventually I want to finish the game... eventually...

I've only completed 2 so far but not up to 100% yet ^^; I've only got 2 CGs left to complete the omikuji gallery in Hiiro no Kakera and just need 2 more large fortunes but I keep getting the normal ones :/ I still have some CGs left to get for Will o' Wisp but I haven't bothered trying to re-do everyone's stories to get all the CGs...I've left them alone for quite a while now I think...

I tend to try and finish everything and play whenever I can but I have the tendency to stop playing them for a while if I'm stuck & can't figure out what to do...

I rarely even try for 100% in both otome and other video games. For otome, yeah, I typically just go for the guys I want, and then move on, haha (especially for games like Tokimeki 1 and 2-- so many routes, there's no way I'll ever do them all I think @_@). I'm SOOOO bad at finishing other games I own. Totally ADD. XD Most of the time that's just because I'm lazy though. I'm busy, but if I really put my mind to it I probably could... And also, any time something new comes out, all my other games tend to get shoved in a corner. It's terrible!

Low! Exceedingly low for me!

It's once in a blue moon that I finish more than 1 guy per game. I'm not very patient, so I usually go straight for and attack my target - once I'm done with him, I'll move on to something else, lol! Some games have so many different endings/routes, I could never finish all the routes for the guys in Tokimeki Memorial!

I think the only game that I've completed everything is Yo-Jin-Bo because I went on massive I-want-all-the-CGs quest. XD

Whoa! You go for the one that you think is the least interesting first and work your way up?! You're so amazingly patient, teach me! Lol, I've tried to do that and usually go crazy because I would be playing for one guy and muttering to myself that I'd rather be playing for another guy! XD

Games on portable consoles like the DS and PSP are really easy for me to finish. I can just sit in bed and play them before I go to sleep, in the car, at the mall, everywhere! I find it really hard to play for extended periods of time on my PS2 because it's a pain. My vision sucks, so I have to wear my glasses when I play, and I don't like sitting in front of the TV. It's sad because I have a bunch of otome games for my PS2 that I've only played past the prologue.

-Drastic Killer, for the same reason as Kaho. You need everyone to get Onii-chan, and you can get the one girl character while getting Aki
-Duel Love, you have to get all the other characters to get Date-senpai
-Kurayami no Hate de Kimi wo Matsu, it was a really fun game, and addicting
-Last Escort 2, you had to get all the other guys to get Ryuuzaki
-VitaminY, it was short and full of minigames
-Hoshizora no Comic Garden
-Hana Yori Dango DS, *shrugs* I'm the only person who liked this game lol
-True Fortune
-Asaki Yumemishi
