Spiky Caterpillar, the artist behind Science Girls, along with Papillon from Hanako Games, are planning to release an original English language otome game titled Date Warp later this year. It's not entirely clear what features will be included -- there is a mention of menus that "...involve making choices, just in a slightly more active fashion." Five male characters will be available.

A preview can be found here: http://spikycaterpil...s.com/datewarp/ There is a relevant thread here on the Lemma Soft forums: http://lemmasoft.ren...php?f=16&t=5657 -- which is where I got the above quote.

This seems interesting and I am liking the design, too. The sample image made me laugh a little. I havent played English otome games for a while now tbh but I'll watch out for this one. ^^

lol @ the strange man XD

hmmm, i've never played the stuff by hanako games. for english otome-ish games i prefer the simulation/rpg ones (like harvest moon, etc.)

but if it has a good plot, i would check it out. its good to see that otome games are getting more popular with english speakers.

Rofl this game looks amusing and the art is very nice. I haven't had time for Japanese otome games so I'll probably look into this. Thanks for the heads up ;D

This game looks interesting. I really like the art^^ It sounds like a good plot too. Well drawn English games like this are rare. I can't wait until there is more info out on it.

Hmm I've never heard of this group before, but the background's very detailed and well-drawn. More English-language otome games are always a plus, I guess I can recommend this to Japanese-illiterate friends when it comes out. ;)

How did I miss this? This looks awesome! Well... the guys look awesome. The girl kinda looks like a loli...

But apparently the game is now in a playable state and they're looking for beta testers, particularly the kind of person that likes critiquing stories. So anyone interested head on over to the Lemmasoft forums!

Date Warp was released just a few days ago. So start with the demo, and see if you enjoy the story and the unique decision-making system: http://www.hanakogam.../datewarp.shtml

Like I said earlier, the game looks really interesting. I just checked out all the characters and most of them seem like they'll be fun to go after. They did pretty good with the opening too. I can't wait until I have time to try the demo. Has anyone tried this yet?

Actually I tried the demo out. It wasn't bad at all, the art was pretty nice, at least better than I expected though I thought the CGs were kind of strange looking compared to the regular character images. I had no idea that you had to create a path from a maze of sorts to make a choice but I guess it's more interesting that way than just picking something. The meter that told you how much a guy liked you was nice too.

Overall it wasn't bad, at least the demo wasn't so hopefully the full game is pretty good.

I gave the demo a try earlier, it's pretty neat. I have to agree with Cloudy about the CG though, a little strange compared to the character stills. Especially Bradley's CG in the demo. The circuit options was an interesting touch. I'm just glad that once you tried one option, you don't have to go through that wired mess again on another playthrough since there's an option to pick paths already opened. Anyway, the story and guys were interesting enough. A little bizarre than what I normally play, but still good and something refreshing. ^^

Hmm sounds interesting. I'm curious about the maze thing you guys are talking about. Do the cgs look bad? Or just strange? I guess I'll have to make time to try the demo to see. Thanks for your opinions^^

Date Warp is the newest game from Hanako Games and Spiky Caterpillar (the makers of Cute Knight, Science Girls, Fatal Hearts, ect.). Here's the excerpt from the website.

Five days ago, Janet left her dorm to go on a date.
She never returned.

Was she kidnapped? Murdered? Did she run away? Will she ever be seen again?

The choices you make can change her fate and help her find romance or destruction in one of eleven surprising endings!

Here is the opening movie to give an example of the art...

And here is a link to the game. There is a demo available, by the way.
http://www.hanakogam.../datewarp.shtml

So far my favourite boy is Alben. I like the mysterious type.
