Anyway, I learned from Lijakaca's blog that the Ouran Host Club licensed game will be ported from PS2 to the DS. I'd be interested in seeing this game, even if it's not all that great, on the DS. Here's why.
The PS2 gets a lot of visual novels, including otome games, in Japan... but elsewhere, it was a Serious Console for Serious Game Fans. I exaggerate a bit -- especially since the PS2 had some nice quirky games in English (Katamari, Arcana Heart, Mr Mosquito...), but a lot of its content was not quite aimed at the sort of person who visits the My Neoromance forum. Also, the PS2 is clearly fading away. Aside from some talk that a certain legendary franchise *might* be released in English on the PS2 in 2009 -- see http://www.rpgamer.c...ainterview.html -- there aren't a lot of big-name games on PS2-in-English release lists. Some inexpensive compilations, a few virtual board games, a bunch of licensed games, and not too much else.
Meanwhile, the DS is still doing well. I know the DSi is around the corner, but I'm honestly not sure what DSi-specific games are being created. A web search for "DSi games" doesn't get a lot of results. ...That said, the DS is well-suited to games based on shoujo anime/manga. The audience for the system is a nice mix. It isn't dominated by Serious Gamers (who might be mostly male, and mostly interested in dark, complex games). There's more than the occasional kid-friendly game. There's games for teen girls and even parents. And from my experiences at Anime Central, I know firsthand that all sorts of anime con-goers (not just male fans) have a DS.
I'm not saying that the Ouran game is gonna be some sort of blockbuster, even if it's released on DS in English. It could be lost in the shuffle. Some of the audience might be looking for a dating simulation or a fusion-genre game (puzzle aspects, RPG elements...). But I'm saying that it might perform better on DS than PS2.

I've only got an XBOX360 and PC at home, but I would prefer PS2/3 and DS. Probably PS2 for the nice graphics and audio.
The age of the heroine doesn't matter to me..........it depends on which game it is. Maybe closer to my age and other otome gamers - 15+

Formats I prefer:
NDS
PSP
PS2
and Other...meaning Wii (I don't see why they don't have Wii listed.)
As for the age of the heroine..it doesn't really matter to me. I'm just in it for the pretty men and pretty man robots... Did I mention I like robots... :3
I really hope they do something with this survey soon and make something into English, Harvest Moon just doesn't quite cut it for a dating sim. :P

I'll grant you that. But as I've probably said elsewhere, there's some big software differences between what's published in English on the DS, and what's on PS2. Look around an average store, and you'll probably notice a lot more kids/family/girl-friendly games on the DS.

Q1. Voted for Hiiro no Kakera and Will O Wisp, since I've seen some pictures and it really intrigued me^^
Q2. NDS and PSP since they're both region free so even if the game came out in USA I can still play it on my PAL console^^ (didn't vote PS3 'cause it's still a little too expensive for me, but if they're coming out for PS3... Well I'll probably buy it^^)
Q3. 15+ is ok^^

I clicked "DS", "Sony PS2" and "Other" (Other being the computer, just in case that counts too).
I like anywhere between 15 - 17. Any younger or older than that and it becomes awkward to me. I guess being younger would be okay if the game was comprised entirely of fluff and trying to make you go "aww", but I don't see too many games like that '^'

I was just reading a Sakura Taisen 5 interview on RPGamer (worksafe link: http://www.rpgamer.c...sakura5int.html ), and I noticed the following statement: "...releasing Sakura Wars in the US was the dream of Red (developer of Sakura Wars), and they haven't given up on their dream even 4 years after the release in Japan! Red and Idea Factory have known each other for years, and Idea Factory told them how much we [NIS America] were interested in publishing Sakura Wars in the US. This project came to life when three companies realized they had the same passion and love for this title!"
Up until now, I had assumed that NISA alone was responsible for licensing Sakura Taisen 5. But it seems some Idea Factory staff deserve some credit.
I have no idea what this might mean for current / future otome games in English...

Q2. ds and others: pc or wii.
Q3. 17-19, 19+
why no wii otome games? the potential is there, since ds otome games prove to be fun.
15-16 years old heroines are getting stale. they also tend to have very young partners. i don't want a H game, but a more mature cast would be nice (like uni students, early 20s). and less useless girls.

Hi! I think they're considering it, although with the economy the way it is, they might be delaying things. If you really want Ouran, let them know! I think companies take letters from fans as a good sign for things like this.
